An Angus man in his 60s has admitted possessing an illegal stun gun at his village home.
Ronald McMichael appeared on indictment at Forfar in relation to the recovery of the weapon at his Guthrie Crescent house in Friockheim on June 24 last year.
McMichael, 63, pleaded guilty to a single charge under the Firearms Act, as amended by the Prohibited Weapons Order.
He admitted that on the June date, at his home, he purchased without the authority of the Secretary of State a prohibited weapon, namely an item designed or adapted for the discharge of a noxious liquid, gas or thing, namely a stun gun.
A not guilty plea to a charge of knowingly being concerned in an attempt at evasion of the prohibition of importation of goods was accepted by the Crown.
Sheriff Gregor Murray deferred sentence on McMichael until early March for the preparation of a criminal justice social work report.
He also granted a Crown motion for forfeiture of the stun gun.
