The organisers of the Glamis Prom have announced the event will return next year.

At the July 16 event, entitled A Summer’s Evening at the Movies, attendees will be treated to a medley of cinema classics in the historic setting of Glamis Castle.

A spokeswoman for Glamis Proms Ltd said: “The headline artiste has yet to be announced but one name that is definitely on the bill is local favourite Norman Bowman.

“Arbroath-born Bowman performed as a guest act in 2015 and went down a storm with the audience and, by popular demand, he has been invited to join the show once more.

“Set against the romantic backdrop of Glamis Castle, music lovers can purchase gazebo packages and will be permitted to bring their own picnics to enjoy some al fresco food and drink.

“Concert-goers will be encouraged to attend in their finery and really ramp up the glamour and sense of occasion.”

The grand concert’s return after a three-year absence proved a huge hit with 4,500 fans flocking to the Angus castle grounds.

With the dual attraction of Elaine Paige and Susan Boyle, ticket sales were good and all VIP tickets and best seats were sold out.

The main act was supported by the Cairn String Quartet followed by crowd-pleasing Arbroath singer Norman Bowman.

However, last July’s event was almost cancelled due to horrendous weather.

With serious flooding in nearby Alyth and the castle car parks under water the night before, postponement was edging closer.

However, groundsmen worked until 5am to clear the waterlogged fields and the site was in good order by opening time.

Many concert-goers opted for the typical festival attire of wellies and a raincoat but the site stayed intact and not a single person left the arena covered in mud.

Early-bird tickets are now on sale at www.glamisprom.com.
