More than two allegedly racist crimes a week were reported to police in Dundee last year, it has emerged.
Officers were made aware of 172 “hate crimes” in the city between April 2014 and March 2015. A total of 129 were due to alleged racism.
Other incidents involved religious, transgender, disability, gender and sexual orientation prejudice.
The figures show that although just 4% of the population in Dundee is from minority ethnic groups, racism is still an issue.
In January, Stobswell woman Michelle Mahmood told how she was too scared to go shopping on her own in Dundee after being racially abused by another woman in the Overgate.
The woman, said to be a young mum, told Michelle “don’t go attacking us now”, before using a racial slur.
In November, a 43-year-old man was reported to the procurator fiscal in connection with alleged racist graffiti sprayed on to the Baptist Church on Bright Street, Lochee.
