Ambassador Bar raid probe hampered by removal of CCTV system’s hard drive

Efforts to trace the thieves who broke into the Ambassador Bar in Dundee’s Clepington Road have been hampered by the loss of CCTV footage.
Despite what owners Admiral Taverns said had been a swift smash and grab, the criminals nonetheless took the time to strip out a hard drive in an effort to avoid detection.
That has deprived police of any video footage that may have shown the raiders at work.
They made off with four flat screen televisions and a couple of vending machines after smashing through a secure rear door at the bar.
It’s understood the thieves were in and out quickly, as security alarms were set off the moment they entered.
The popular pub has been closed for a number of months as its owners attempt to find new licensees.
Police Scotland is keen to trace witnesses who have information about the break-in, which took place sometime between 10am on Saturday and 1.50pm on Monday.
Anyone who was in the area and saw or heard any suspicious activity is urged to contact officers on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
