The former finance director of Muirfield Contracts quit the business just weeks before it collapsed into administration.
The Courier understands that Gordon Boal walked out after just 14 months in the job early last month after a major disagreement with senior management over the direction the firm was taking.
Mr Boal’s swift exit came around the same time Muirfield Investments began trading offering investment bonds for sale through the Irish Stock Exchange – although none were ever listed.
The Muirfield Investments business uses similar branding to Muirfield Contracts and its website features a picture of The Crescent, a major regeneration project carried out by Muirfield Contracts in Whitfield, Dundee.
Thomas John Stodart, who was installed as chairman of the now defunct Dundee construction firm when Singapore-based Azure Investments bought it over in 2013, is listed as a director of Muirfield Investments.
One company insider told The Courier that Mr Boal, a former finance director at Marshall Construction and group accountant at Stewart Milne Construction, had left the firm shortly after a major row with other senior executives.
The Courier contacted Mr Boal but he declined to comment and Mr Stodart could not be reached.
The administrators of Muirfield Contracts were also asked whether they were aware of a row but no answer was forthcoming.
