Eyecatching sea crane draws attention on the Forth
ByThe Courier Reporter
The Firth of Forth is used to welcoming a variety of shipping, but one particular vessel has caught the eye of locals.
The Oleg Strashnov, the world’s second-largest sea crane, has been moored off West Wemyss since last week.
Despite rumours, it and a recently-appeared drilling rig are not linked to any proposed underground coal gasification project in the Forth.
Meanwhile, two large cruise ships also called over the weekend.
The 286m Eurodam was spotted making its way towards Rosyth on Saturday, leaving later that evening.
However, the giant ship was eclipsed by the even larger Royal Princess, which docked under the Forth Bridge, bringing with it thousands of visitors to the area.
On Wednesday the flagship of the P&O cruise line, the 329m Britannia, will also dock off the Fife coast.
