ByCraig Smith
An investigation is underway after a fire broke out at a golf club in St Andrews.
Around 24 firefighters tackled the blaze at the St Andrews New Golf Club building in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Two crews from St Andrews and two from Cupar were called out at 2.37am and discovered the fire in the basement of the clubhouse.
Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a heat seeking camera as they extinguished the fire within 40 minutes, although no-one was in the building at the time and no-one was injured.
Two fire engines remained on the scene until around 7am.
Early indications are that an electrical fault may have caused the fire to break out, although a full investigation is likely to be carried out.
