Safety concerns over chainsaws offered for sale in Fife
ByCraig Smith
Police have warned people in north east Fife to be wary of people offering chainsaws, power washers and generators for sale.
Officers have received a number of complaints about a group selling such equipment in the local area and say they are concerned about the safety of the products.
As a result, PC Stuart Bruce, community ward officer in Cupar, has urged members of the public not to buy them.
“We haven’t verified the origin of these pieces of equipment yet but we do have concerns that they may be imported copies,” he said.
“I would strongly urge everyone to be vigilant and not purchase any of these items from the bogus callers.
“If the deal appears too good to be true then it probably is.”
Police Scotland are urging anyone with information on the activities of bogus workmen to contact them on 101 or report the matter directly to Fife Council Trading Standards Department on 01592 583141.
