Perth and Kinross Council has ruled out dredging the Alyth Burn following the devastating flood which hit the village.
Representatives of the local authority attended a meeting of the community council to discuss the disaster and proposed management of the burn.
A spokeswoman for the council said: “A public meeting regarding the recent flooding was held in Alyth Town Hall on August 12, led by Alyth Community Council.
“The issue of dredging the burn was raised, and council officers advised that ongoing management of the riverbed would be a more sustainable and practical way forward.
“The council plans to begin work next week to remove debris where this has built up along the Alyth Burn, for example large boulders.
“It is intended that a joint report looking at all the factors contributing to July’s flooding, prepared in conjunction with Sepa (the Scottish Environment Protection Agency) and Scottish Natural Heritage will be published during next month.”
