A Perthshire man has proved that honesty is the best policy with a humorous advert for his used car.
Kevin Blair offered his 2002 Ford Fiesta for sale online with a brutally frank description of the green machine.
However, his candid portrayal has not deterred motorists looking for a bargain as the car sold within hours of the ad being posted.
Writing on the Errol Village Facebook page, the 37-year-old said: “This is my horrendous car, it could be yours!
“MOT failure brake pads, burst coil spring, a few wee other things. It runs fine, but there is a leak underneath that wasn’t picked up in the test, not sure where it’s coming from.
“It’s all over the road in Church Lane which will be cleaned up once the car is gone, I promise, for any residents who may be reading this.
“I’ll level with you, it’s s**** all rusted and stinks of mackerel. I eat a lot of mackerel. Decent stereo, but I’m keeping that.
“I can get £90 at the scrappies for it so if (you) offer me more, you can have it.”
“Dunno why you’d want it, to be honest, maybe a project, just thought I’d ask, eh.”
Kevin bought the car for £300 five months ago, but decided to sell it following the MOT failure.
He told The Courier: “It was going to get scrapped at the weekend and I thought I’d put a cheeky post online to see if I could get any money for it.
“There was no point in lying the car was rubbish.
“I didn’t expect to have people wanting to buy it I got a private message offering me £100 so I accepted it right away. Then someone offered £120 but it had already gone I was kicking myself.”
He said he was also surprised by the reaction to his advert.
“There was about 50 likes on Facebook,” he said. “I had messages asking me if it was for real or if I was having a laugh.
“A lot of people seemed to enjoy the ad.”
