The dreary weather failed to dampen spirits as groups of grannies, mums, aunties, daughters and friends took part in Perth’s Race for Life on Sunday.
Pink was the colour of the day as more than 800 pulled on their sports gear to complete the 5km course in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Amid the sea of ladies were many who have survived cancer themselves or were taking part in memory or celebration of loved ones whose lives have been touched by the disease.
Guest of honour was Murthly woman Donna Nicoll, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2010 shortly after her 50th birthday.
The grandmother who was given the honour of sounding the starting horn at the George Duncan Arena has endured chemotherapy, radiotherapy and major surgery over the past two years.
Donna, who is looking forward to celebrating her 30th wedding anniversary with her husband Andy this year, said: ”Cancer Research UK is a cause close to my heart so I was honoured to be starting this year’s Race for Life event in Perth.
”Race for Life is amazing. It’s not about being fast or fit but about enjoying the day and raising as much money as possible for life-saving research.”Click here for a full photo gallery
