VIDEO: Hundreds gather to see Tom Weir statue unveiled at Loch Lomond

Hundreds of people gathered today for the unveiling of a statue dedicated to Scottish countryside legend Tom Weir.
Marking the centenary of the outdoor writer and broadcaster’s birth, more than 250 people watched Tom’s widow, Rhona, 94, and well-known outdoor writers and broadcasters Cameron McNeish and Jimmie MacGregor unveil the memorial.
Tom made a major contribution to introducing generations to Scotland’s great outdoors through his adventures as a climber, writer, broadcaster, naturalist and a pioneering campaigner for the protection of the Scottish environment.Post by TOM WEIR Statue Campaign.His widow Rhona Weir was “delighted” with the statue and said that “Tom would be chuffed” with the efforts of all involved.
