Brechin boss Ray McKinnon admits today’s game at the home of league leaders Stranraer will be the toughest test yet of his side’s long unbeaten run.
The Angus outfit extended their sequence of results without a loss to 12 last week, overcoming Ayr United 2-1 at the Glebe.
McKinnon is hoping it will not be unlucky 13 at Stair Park this afternoon against a team who are also on a fine run of form with Stephen Aitken’s men recording a 4-2 win over Forfar last weekend.
However, having forced their way into play-off contention by beating Ayr, McKinnon is determined that his players secure the right result to cement their place in fourth spot and possibly put pressure on the sides above.
McKinnon said: “I was really happy with our win over Ayr last week.
“We created a load of chances which could have put us out of sight but even although the performance dipped after the break, I felt we were comfortable and fully deserved all three points.
“We now make the long journey to face the league leaders Stranraer and we are all well aware of just how tough a game this will be.
“Like us, they are a side in good form at the moment and they will be looking to extend their stay at the top.
“However, we did really well the last time we played there.
“We were 2-0 up and they eventually got a draw thanks to a freak goal with the last kick of the game direct from a corner.
“So we will travel in confident frame of mind for a match I believe we are more than capable of winning.”
McKinnon has a full squad to choose from.
