Forfar Athletic found their winning ways again with a 1-0 victory over Stenhousemuir, but at a cost.
Striker Dale Hilson could be out for a number of weeks after pulling up with a hamstring injury just minutes into the Station Park game against the Warriors.
Manager Dick Campbell acknowledged this was a blow as the Loons look to come out of their mini slump.
“It looks like it could be a bit worse than we thought it was,” he said.
“He could be out for three or four weeks, which is a real shame.
“We have been going through a wee sticky spell, and again today it wasn’t like the fluent stuff we have been playing.
“But I have been trying to say to everyone, look, we have earned that right for everyone to respect us but also for the opposition to make things difficult for us.
“It was a great goal … But I don’t think it was a great game. I don’t think either goalkeeper really had a save to make.
“But at this stage, when it was three points and no goals against us and the other teams about us dropped points, although I am not bothered what other teams are doing it is a great three points for us.
“It is a great result and I am not really that bothered how we played. I don’t think we deserved the result last week, but we did today and I am very happy with the result.
“We have been grinding out results before, as we will grind them again. You have to consider the people we had missing, the changes we made and those just coming back.
“I thought Yano (Iain Campbell) did really well for us at left back and Martyn Fotheringham worked hard up front.”
Both sides were low on confidence and it showed in a dour encounter.
The first half was a poor affair and the second wasn’t much better, although there were a couple of penalty box scrambles just survived by Stenhousemuir. Danny Denholm’s header was brilliantly blocked by Ross Meechan; then James Dale, Martyn Fotheringham and Denholm had shots blocked in front of goal.
Denholm’s 77th-minute winner was a rare moment to savour for the home fans, who cheered their side’s first win in four games.
Denholm, who replaced the injured Hilson, got the deftest of touches to a Gavin Swankie near-post cross to divert the ball past Stenny keeper Greg Fleming.
Colin McMenamin tried to grab a last -gasp equaliser for the visitors, but his downward header was saved by Forfar keeper Rab Douglas on the line.
