Cowdenbeath boss wants consistency confirmation at East End Park

Colin Nish takes Cowdenbeath to League One leaders Dunfermline today looking for confirmation that his Blue Brazil side can now perform consistently both home and away.

The former Pars striker has been able to enjoy his first season as a manager at Central Park where a rousing 4-2 win over title chasers Ayr United on Tuesday night made it an eighth home game without defeat.

Away trips have been more troublesome however, and seven defeats have been endured with the loss of 30 goals, including a 7-1 defeat from the Pars.

Nish said: “The boys were excellent after going behind to Ayr in two minutes to a goal that was yards offside. The reaction was fantastic and it was one of our best performances of the season.

“We had strikers playing with confidence and a defence that did well against a good attack. We are a young side and really struggled against Ayr a couple of months ago but Tuesday night was a lot better and it showed the improvement we have made.

“It also sets us up nicely for a tough game at Dunfermline.”

Nish added: “We have been a better team at home than away all season but things have been coming together for us every week. Our away form has improved and whilst East End Park will be a real test it is one that we can now welcome.

“They gave us a going over at the start of the season there but we played out a goalless draw at our place a couple of months ago. Hopefully we can show that we are a better side than the one that started the season.”

Foot injuries continue to keep Jack Beaumont and Kyle Miller away from the action.
