Dundee United boss hopes deal can be struck for Rodney Sneijder

Dundee United manager Jackie McNamara held positive talks with trialist Rodney Sneijder last night and is hopeful of signing him.
Sneijder isn’t travelling back to Scotland with United today because of other commitments but the Tangerines have had positive feedback from him.
Asked after United’s 4-0 loss to Utrecht last night in which Sneijder played if he thought he would be landing the midfielder, McNamara said: “I hope so. We have spoken to him and his agent there after the game.
“He is not coming back with us as he has family things to do but we will maybe see what happens next week.”
As for the overall trip to the Netherlands, it appears to have settled some things.
The boss added: “You learn a lot in these games and I have seen a lot of things tonight that makes it easier moving forward.
“We have had three tough tests. You can play teams back home from the lower leagues and win but not be tested. So this trip has been really worthwhile from my side of things.
“We can narrow the squad down now and see what else is possible.”
