The run without wins St Johnstone are currently enduring has lasted for longer than the Perth players are used to, Steven Anderson admitted.
But the Saints defender is confident that victories will soon come their way again.
“We just have too many boys off form at the moment and we’re making mistakes,” the Scottish Cup hero pointed out.
“It’s frustrating but we’ve been through it many times before.
“This one has been a bit longer than we’ve had in the past, but we’ll turn it.
“All we can do is get our heads down, work hard and try to eradicate the errors.
“If we just get ourselves working hard things will turn for us.
“Once we get a result we’ll probably go on a run because that’s what we usually do.
“We’ve been here before, we’ve had these runs at the start of the season before and we’ve had them in the middle of the season.
“So we’ll come through it.”
Anderson does not believe fatigue as a consequence of a short summer break helps to explain their mid-season slump.
He said: “I don’t think we’re tired, we’re professional footballers so we’ve got to be fit enough.
“It doesn’t matter if you’re back early, you get time off during international breaks to rest up.
“So I don’t think that’s a factor.”
Meanwhile, Anderson said that only Darren O’Dea will know whether he intended to plant his boot on him during Friday night’s Tayside derby.
The incident has divided opinion, but the Saints player’s first instinct was that it was deliberate.
“I thought it was a stamp at the time,” he said. “But I don’t know.
“It’s something that happens in football and I’m not bothered about it.
“I’m more annoyed about getting beat and more worried about making sure things turn for us.
“That’s what I’m more bothered about rather than something like that.
“He came over the top of me and put his foot on my knee.
“I don’t know if he meant it or not, only he knows that.
“He told me he didn’t mean it afterwards.
“It’s one of those things, it’s nothing to do with me.
“The compliance officer might look at it but it’s not my decision.
“We just need to get back on the training pitch, get focused on the next game and try to get a win to end the run we’re on.”
