The John Clark Motor Group has put in gear a £700,000 extension at its Audi dealership in Dundee.

The 40% increase in size of the King’s Cross Road showroom, giving an extra 2,200 square feet, will also offer more office and customer space and allow the creation of more jobs.

A total of 24 new posts will be added to the workforce between the Dundee extension and a major £9 million redevelopment at the group’s Audi dealership in Aberdeen.

A breakdown of the new jobs between the two cities was not available yesterday, but the Dundee posts will add to the considerable payroll John Clark has in Dundee and further afield.

In Dundee the group employs 55 people at its Audi site and 63 at the John Clark Tayside site in the Dryburgh Industrial Estate where it is the dealer for BMW and Mini.

A further 33 are employed at the group’s Skoda dealership in the city’s Wester Gourdie Industrial Estate.

A total of 45 are employed at John Clark Land Rover in Perth and 28 in the same dealership in Cupar, 19 at the Jaguar dealership in Perth, 49 at John Clark Volkswagen Fife (Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy), and 13 at the contact centre in Dunfermline.

The family-owned and run business now employs more than 1,000 people across all its sites, including Edinburgh.

The new high-tech Audi dealership in Aberdeen will be the first of its kind in Scotland and one of only a handful in the UK.

The 59,860 sq ft site will be almost double the size of the present Aberdeen Audi footprint, becoming the group’s largest dealership stand-alone franchised site.

Fitted with the latest interactive retail technology, the new Aberdeen showroom will allow visitors to browse the full Audi range electronically and access every model and variant configuration at the touch of a button.

The John Clark Motor Group is celebrating a fourth consecutive record-breaking year, and Chris Clark, group business development director, said: “We are really pleased to announce details of two very significant developments for the group.

“Customer experience is at the heart of our business and the new Dundee Audi dealership will offer up-to-date Audi interior design and additional customer facilities, continuing our outstanding service delivery.

“These investments are a real recognition of our team’s hard work in recent times as well as our commitment to the Audi brand.

“We are all now looking forward to seeing the new premises when they are ready in 2015.”

Richard North, brand director for Audi, added: “The move into the new premises enables us to build on our outstanding reputation and ensure improved levels of customer service.”
