A Dundee engineering company has secured a £3.5 million extension to a Middle East contract which will see its products used at the Qatar World Cup in 2022.

Specialist engineering and metal fabricators the Galloway Group has renewed its licensing agreement with Leminar Air Conditioning of the United Arab Emirates.

The deal is for more of Galloway’s Fenland Fireduct and Acoustics products in an expansion of the Dundee company’s Middle East market.

Galloway expects to ship more than £3.5m worth of products and services to the region over the next 12 months.

They will be used in construction projects for the Qatar World Cup an event that involves building activity worth an estimated £138 billion.

Heat, noise and airflow controls are important aspects of building construction, especially in the searing temperatures of the Middle East.

Leminar is a major supplier of air- conditioning systems in that part of the world, where it is the sole manufacturing licensee of the Galloway Fenland Fireduct and Acoustics systems.

The ducting has a special coating and contributes to building safety by maintaining fire compartmentation.

It helps the safe dispersal of smoke and hazardous fumes in the event of a fire, allowing more escape time and saving lives.

The acoustics system gathers and safely disperses noise from buildings, with silencer, louvre and enclosure components.

Fenland Fireduct and Acoustics products have been used in some major construction projects in the region, including the Muscat International Airport in Oman.

Galloway head of sales and marketing Richard Brough was in Dubai to meet Leminar general manager Dipak Bhadra and tour Leminar’s new factory.

Due to open in August, the factory will increase Leminar’s capacity to meet the demands of the increasing Middle East market using Galloway’s imported products and expertise.

Mr Brough said: “I’m delighted to confirm the expansion in our Middle East business, and our long-term partnership with Leminar is a very important part of this.

“I’m confident that we will continue to work together to manufacture and deliver Fenland Fireduct and Acoustics products to customers.

“Many of the customers will be using our products in the various Fifa World Cup 2022 construction projects. This region is an important area for Galloway and Leminar is a key partner for us.”
