The first whisky will be produced at Fife’s new £3.5 million distillery later this year after a milestone was reached in the construction process.
Kingsbarns Distillery team joined with site contractor Colorado for a topping out ceremony to celebrate the completion of works on the roof of the distillery’s new home at East Newhall Farm Steading on Cambo Estate.
The Wemyss family which already has significant interest in the drinks industry took over the Kingsbarns Distillery project in January last year.
“It’s been a very exciting year watching the site redevelopment progress,” director William Wemyss said.
“We’ve still got a lot to do to fulfil our dream of distilling at Fife’s newest single-malt distillery. However, we expect to be under way in November and are planning that the visitor centre and cafe will be open to the public from December this year.”
