Murderer Jamie Cumming was approached to star on Celebrity Big Brother.
Cumming was written to by BB producers Endemol after reportedly fathering 17 children by 15 different mothers.
He could have been a housemate in the Celebrity Big Brother 10 house alongside the likes of EastEnders actor Martin Kemp and Daily Mail columnist Samantha Brick in August 2012.
Instead, Cumming ended up behind bars in the “big house” two months before the show aired.
He was found guilty of stabbing to death father of three James Getty outside the Maltman pub in Mains Road, Dundee causing lethal injuries to his heart, lungs and liver.
Cumming was found guilty of murdering the 29-year-old after a row at a birthday party at the Maltman in June 2012.
The 37-year-old is currently appealing his conviction and life sentence for the murder, after being told he must serve a minimum of 17 years in jail.
Cumming’s solicitor Kris Gilmartin said: “Mr Cumming maintains his innocence and we are in the process of preparing an appeal.
“We are awaiting the results of new forensic inquiries and we are in the process of trying to interview witnesses and obtain further statements from them.”
It is understood that Cumming never responded to Endemol and Channel 5’s approach. His family was also reportedly approached by the Jeremy Kyle Show around the same time.
Cumming’s murder trial at the High Court in Dundee heard that he had stabbed Mr Getty through the heart during an argument outside the Maltman pub.
The jury took under two hours to find him guilty of murdering Mr Getty by striking him repeatedly with a knife or similar instrument at the junction of Mains Road and Mid Road.
A Channel 5 spokesman said: “A lot of potential housemates don’t make it. We never comment on individuals who may or may not have been approached.”
