Debenhams in Dundee is calling on the “support” of local women.

The store has launched a bra amnesty urging women to donate unwanted, wearable bras so they can be used to raise money for charity.

The department store has teamed up with Oxfam to arrange for a pink collection box to be placed in store so women can easily drop off any unwanted bras.

The collection box will be in store until March 4 and there will be a 10% discount off any new bras purchased for those who make a donation.

Annie Lewis of Oxfam Scotland said: “These donations could help create life-changing jobs for women in West Africa.

“Oxfam runs a social enterprise project in Senegal called Frip Ethique which means ethical second-hand clothing.

“It provides valuable employment to disadvantaged local women who sort and trade the clothes.

“Bras are complex to manufacture so few developing countries have facilities to make their own.

“Many people’s lives are being turned around by the business.”
