Staff suspended at Forfar care home amid investigation

An Angus care home that looks after adults with dementia and learning difficulties has suspended three members of staff.

It is understood the operators of Finavon Court Care Home on Carseburn Road, Forfar, have taken action after a member of staff expressed concern over adult protection issues.

But the exact nature of the complaint has not been revealed to the public.

The 58-bed home offers dementia and specialist care and support for individuals with learning and physical disabilities between the ages of 18 and 64.

One family member of a resident, who did not want to be named, said: “No one has a clue what’s going on at the home.

“We just want to know what’s happened.

“It’s so frustrating no one is telling us anything.”

A spokesman for home operator HC One said the health and wellbeing of each person it supports is of paramount importance.

He added: “When concern was raised by a member of staff, we immediately launched a full investigation and suspended three members of staff.

“We continue to work closely with Angus Council and the Care Inspectorate whilst this matter is investigated.

“Our number one priority is the wellbeing of residents and we have ensured appropriate staffing levels and put in place additional senior management support. Whilst the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

A spokesman for the Care Inspectorate confirmed issues about the care home had been raised.

He said: “Concerns have been raised with us about this service and we have referred these to Angus Council, in line with adult support and protection legislation.

“We take all concerns raised with us seriously and investigate them fully.”
