Dundee-born comedian, writer and broadcaster Danny Wallace is to receive an honorary degree from the University of Dundee.
He is one of nine people that will be honoured during the graduation ceremonies being held later this month.
Mr Wallace, whose father was a professorat the university, started writing video games reviews at the age of 13 for school work experience. He has since gone on to international acclaim for books such as Yes Man and Friends Like These.
His TV work ranges from the comedy documentary How To Start Your Own Country to presenting episodes of the BBC’s flagshipscience programme, Horizon.
An honorary Doctor of Laws degree willgo to Chris van der Kuyl one of thenation’s leading entrepreneurs and an expert in online markets and digital entertainment.
A graduate of the university’s school of computing, he went on to establish Dundee-based games company VIS and is currently chairman at 4J Studios.
Leymah Gbowee, who received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2011 for her work in leading a women’s peace movement that brought an end to a civil war in Liberiawill also be honoured, as will Dundee’s first makar Professor Bill Herbert.
Honorary degrees will also go to ProfessorDavid Sigsworth, chairman of the ScottishEnvironment Protection Agency, ProfessorRonald Laskey, a renowned cell biologist and cancer researcher, and Professor Sir David Baulcombe, a leading plant scientist.
Professor Chris Marshall and Dr Mei Lin Young will also be honoured on June 18.
