A sporting agent from Dundee is reaping the rewards just three months after launching an online TV channel with bookings up by two thirds.
Salmo International created Hooked UK, a dedicated fly-fishing series on its own YouTube channel. The business believes the sport is under represented in the broadcast media.
Working in partnership with From Field to Stream TV, a start-up production company focusing on countryside issues, Hooked UK has broadcast a series of programmes from iconic Scottish riverbanks.
Greig Thomson, founder of Salmo International, said: “The success of our internet TV channel has given us a flying start to the year.
“We set out to bring alive the pulsating nature of the sport with some original programming and it’s clearly struck a chord with desk-bound fishers yearning to be on the water.”
“Our programmes from rivers such as the Tay and the South Esk are already nudging 30,000 viewers which, given the niche nature of the sport, is a way beyond expectations.
“Bookings on fly-fishing breaks are up 65% on this time last year, demonstrating the commercial benefits of small businesses taking an innovating new media approach.”
