Man charged after alleged dog attack on schoolgirl in Dundee

A 50-year-old man has been charged following an alleged dog attack on a schoolgirl in Dundee.

An investigation was launched after the girl sustained injuries to her leg and torso and now a man has been charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act. He is expected to appear in court at a later date.

The incident happend in the St Mary’s area last Tuesday evening as the child walked with a member of her family.

The girl was taken to Ninewells Hospital with injuries said to have included a bruised rib cage and a gash on her leg. The girl was allowed home on Wednesday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “I can confirm a 50-year-old man has been charged under the Dangerous Dogs Act.”

It is understood a dog has been seized by police.
