Repair works on Tay Road Bridge to be carried out

Work will be carried out on the Tay Road Bridge over three consecutive weekends.
Work will be carried out on the Tay Road Bridge over three consecutive weekends.

Essential maintenance repair works are to be carried out to the carriageway and expansion joints of the Tay Road Bridge from next week.

In an effort to minimise inconvenience to bridge users, the works will be carried out by Tayside Contracts over three consecutive weekends from Friday, October 3 at 7.30pm to Monday at 6am.

A contra-flow system will be in operation with one full carriageway closed to enable works to be carried out unhindered. A temporary 30mph speed restriction will be applied across the bridge during the working programme.

Three days of advance enabling works to the Bridgehead roundabout will commence on Monday at 9.30am.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane north bound and one lane south bound around the roundabout.

These enabling works will not result in any restrictions to the Bridge or the B946 link road to Newport and Tayport.

Abnormal and wide loads will not be permitted to cross the bridge during the works. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained.

The main works will mean that there will be temporary restrictions on the B946 link road to Newport and Tayport but diversions will be in place.

Cyclists are advised that a traffic order is in place for the works and that for safety they will only be allowed to use the shared central walkway/cycle track to cross the bridge.

Tayside Contracts are undertaking the works through the Dundee Roads Maintenance Partnership.
