Jack Vettriano paintings could fetch up to £1.2 million in sale

A private collection of Jack Vettriano paintings is expected to fetch up to £1.2 million when it goes on sale next week.
The 12 paintings are all fresh to the market and provide a cross-section of the themes that have informed Vettriano’s work over the years.
They include some which are familiar from illustrated books on the Fife-born artist, including Waltzers, which is expected to sell for between £200,000 and £300,000.
It is a well-known image showing elegant couples dancing under a night sky.
The Road To Nowhere and Missing Man both show stylish figures on beaches and could fetch between £100,000 and £200,000.
Other familiar works include Study for Shades of Scarlet, one of a number of paintings set in stylish interiors and cafes depicting lovers or figures alone.
It has been valued at between £100,000 and £150,000.
The sale takes place at Bonhams in Edinburgh on Tuesday from 6pm.
Jack Vettriano was born in 1951 and grew up in Methil.
He left school at 16 and only started painting as a hobby in the 1970s.
