Roads to close for Forth Road Bridge works

Motorists are being warned to plan ahead as key roads around the Forth Road bridge will close overnight in the coming weeks.

The work, part of the Forth Replacement Crossing Project, will affect the A90, M9 spur and B800 to the south of the bridge.

The overnight closures are needed to install the new B800 overbridge and driver information gantries.

During the first phase limited sections of the B800 will be closed from 8pm-6am each night from October 28-30.

Traffic will be diverted through Winchburgh and Newton. Traffic lights will be in operation on the B800 from October 24-November 1.

The A90 south of Echline junction and west of B924 Dalmeny junction and the M9 Spur will be closed from 8pm-6am every night from November 2-4, with traffic being diverted via Kincardine and the A8/M9.

Steve Brown, Transport Scotland’s roads and infrastructure manager, said the work had been carefully designed to minimise disruption.

He said carriageways must be closed to traffic to ensure the safest and most efficient installation.

He continued: “However, this work is timed at night to keep disruption to journeys to the absolute minimum.

“We advise drivers to plan ahead especially for those travelling across the Forth to and from Edinburgh Airport and avoid any unnecessary delays to journeys that may be affected by the closures.”
