Firm believes it has won public support for Binn Eco Park windfarm

The company behind a Perthshire windfarm plan believes that it has gained the backing of the public.

Edinburgh-based Element Power held a series of public exhibitions at Abernethy, Bridge of Earn, Glenfarg and Gateside during which members of the project team provided local communities with the most up-to-date information available about the proposal for a four-turbine windfarm on the Binn Eco Park.

The plan had been amended after earlier consultation, with a reduction in the number of turbines from five to four and of the blades tip height from 125m to 115m.

Stuart McAleese, Element Power’s head of UK wind power, said the plans had continued to “evolve”.

“We were very pleased to have had the opportunity to present the latest design to the community and to share with local people our plans for the Binn Eco Park Wind Farm,” he said.

“The feedback we received is that more than 70% of visitors to the exhibitions showed their support for our proposal.

“This result gives us confidence that the considerable potential benefits this scheme would bring to the area are understood and would be welcomed.”
