Dundee manager Paul Hartley has admitted he would like to add to his roster in the January transfer window.
Whether he will be able to do so though, depends on a number of factors.
As always, there is a need to balance the books and there is also the problem that other clubs are often reluctant to let players leave in January, as the manager acknowledged.
He said: “We always want to try to add to the squad. It is definitely something we are looking at as we are still short in certain areas.
“But I think January is a tough market as most clubs don’t let their good players go.
“It is difficult so if we bring someone in, then great but if we don’t then we just have to get on with it.
“I would like a couple in but that might mean we have to balance the books with one or maybe two needing to go out, I don’t know.”
Hartley will take his players up to Forfar this afternoon for training on the Loons’ artificial pitch.
That’s to properly prepare for the visit to Hamilton on Saturday, with Accies also playing on plastic.
The manager took his players to Station Park before the game at Kilmarnock last month and it certainly worked a treat with the Dark Blues winning 3-1 in Ayrshire.
Now, he is hoping this session will pay similar dividends at Hamilton.
He said: “I think it’s important just to get the players used to it.
“The Hamilton pitch is a very good surface like Forfar’s.”
