Dundee United made it four wins out of five in the league so far this season with this comprehensive 3-0 victory over St Mirren in Paisley.

The Tangerines started brightly with an early chance for Chris Erskine following a pass by Ryan Dow but St Mirren keeper Marian Kello saved his effort.

The goalie then had to look lively when Gary Mackay-Steven hit a bending shot from the left edge of the Saints penalty area which shaved the upright.

It was United keeper Rado Cierzniak though who came to the rescue shortly after for Jackie McNamara’s side when he acrobatically tipped over a John McGinn header.

After that, chances were at a premium and the two sides headed down the tunnel at half-time with the score still at 0-0.

Just seconds after the restart, United had a big escape when a Kenny McLean shot was cleared off the line by Keith Watson.

However, on 48 minutes, the Tangerines took the lead.

Nadir Ciftci played a through ball to Chris Erskine and the midfielder kept his cool to calmly slot past Kello.

The Tangerines then doubled their advantage in the 68th minute.

Mackay-Steven sent a corner in from the right with Kello coming to claim but he never made it and big Polish centre-half Jarek Fojut headed into the net for his first goal for the club.

The icing was then well and truly put on the cake shortly before the end when substitute Blair Spittal produced a bullet finish to make it three and easy for United.
