Montrose boss Paul Hegarty homing in on another win at Links Park

Montrose boss Paul Hegarty is looking for some more home comfort when his side welcome Elgin City to Links Park this afternoon.

The Gable Endies were edged out 3-2 at Annan last week with the manager less than happy with the goals conceded.

That is something he has been looking to address with his young squad this week.

Hegarty is now hoping lessons have been learned and they can make it three wins out of three in the league at home so far this season.

He said: “I wasn’t happy with some of our defending against Annan and we have been working on that in training this week.

“We are a young side and we need to be a bit more streetwise but I was pleased with the attitude and application.

“It is a case of being patient with them as they learn how to deal with more experienced opponents.

“We have added to our squad this week with Gavin Malin coming in on loan until January from Forfar.

“I am delighted to have him and I must thank Dick Campbell for letting him come to us.

“Adam McWilliam has also signed with us but he is doing coaching badges this week and will be unavailable for the Elgin game but Gavin will come in to the squad.

“Jim Weir has Elgin well organised and they have had a good start to the season.

“It will be a difficult game but we have beaten Clyde and Arbroath at home so far this season and we will look to keep that good form going.

“It is important to do well at home and then try to pick up the odd point or two away as, to be honest, there is very little between the sides in this division.

“All teams are much the same and it often comes down to who wants it on the day.”

Montrose have major injury doubts over skipper Paul Watson and keeper Jordan Miller.
