Morgan Academy face tense finale

Morgan Academy face tense finale

Morgan Academy face a tense finale to the BT Caledonia Division One campaign after going down 26-15 at home to title-chasers Orkney on Saturday.

Morgan now sit second from bottom, a point behind Mackie Academy and four adrift of Hillfoots, who visit Alloway Place on Saturday in Morgan’s final match of the campaign.

The Dundee men must take something from that contest to have any chance of escaping from the bottom two.

Glenrothes halted a run of disappointing results and signed off on a high when they beat Strathmore 22-7 at Carleton Park.

The Division Two (Midlands) title will go to the wire after Harris Academy returned to the top of the table when they beat Alloa 38-18 at Elliott Road.

The win leaves Harris in pole position by virtue of a better points difference than fellow challengers Carnoustie with both sides having one match to play.

At the other end of the table, bottom side Blairgowrie brought a difficult season to an end with a 37-22 defeat at home to Stirling University.

A tight finale is in prospect in the Division Three (Midlands) title race.

Pacesetters Kirkcaldy seconds were pushed all the way before squeezing past Grangemouth Stags seconds 27-24.

Arbroath remain in the hunt after chalking up a 29-10 win at home to Stirling Bridgehaugh.

That result leaves Arbroath 11 points behind the leaders but with three matches in hand.

Dundee University Medics are not yet ruled out of lifting the silverware after the students recorded a 41-19 win at Perthshire seconds to sit third in the table and ready to pounce if the teams above them should falter in the run-in.

Meanwhile, Crieff and Strathearn had a successful trip to face Falkirk seconds, with the visitors taking the honours 40-12.

Only one match went ahead in Division Four (Midlands) and that encounter saw Fife Southern tighten their grip on top spot after recording a 58-12 win away to Alloa seconds.
