There was a change of face in the rostrum at Forfar Mart on Saturday with Andrew Barrie, from Lawrie & Symington’s Lanark Mart, selling the cattle.
The move came as news broke that long-term Forfar Mart cattle auctioneer Neil Leslie had left the company by arrangement with his employment terminating on Friday.
Recently appointed Lawrie & Symington managing director Hamish McColl was in the market on Saturday for the sale.
He said: “Due to staffing changes within Forfar Mart, by mutual consent Neil Leslie has terminated his employment.”
Mr Leslie was previously with Aberdeen & Northern Marts at Laurencekirk and then Thainstone. The early years of his career were spent with Angus Marts in Forfar and Caledonian Marts in Dundee.
He was recently a senior vice-president of the Institute of Auctioneers and Appraisers of Scotland.
