A Dundee-developed dental device that picks up early signs of tooth decay is now headed for India, further expanding the global market for the product.
The developer and supplier of the CarieScan PRO, 3D, has signed an exclusive distribution deal for India, after a deal for China was announced last week.
Most of these dentists are expected to go into private practice to meet the healthcare needs of an increasingly affluent Indian society.
Thirty CarieScan PROs will be shipped to India, where no additional regulatory approvals are required for the device to go on sale.
Graham Lay, 3D chief executive, said, “I am very pleased with this expansion of the company’s presence in the region.
“Discussions with potential distribution partners in other territories are ongoing and we look forward to making further announcements in due course.”
Dr Anil Ramachandran, director of distribution company Analytical and Medical Technologies and a qualified dentist, said, “The expansion of dental care in India is dramatic and we believe that the demand for improved diagnosis of dental diseases in India will be a part of this development.
“We are certain that CarieScan will be well received by both patients and clinicians as more preventive treatment programmes are offered.”
