IN AN evening sale on the opening day of Stirling Bull Sales 47 Limousin bulls sold to average £5,162, up £113 on the year. The clearance rate was 65%.
Top price of the day was a 15,000gns bid from commercial producers Walter Dandie and Sons, Learielaw, Broxburn, for Emslies Hendreron from Harry Emslie, Kinknockie, Peterhead.
This son of Emslies Colossus was a half brother to the recent Carlisle champion which made 13,500gns.
Stephen and Denise Irvine, who run the Anside herd at Braehead, Drummuir, received 11,000gns for their reserve junior champion, Anside Hawkeye, by the 22,000gns Darriaghy Enfield, from John Logan, Humebyres, Kelso.
He also paid 6,000gns for Westpit Highlander by Netherhall Doubleoseven from Andrew and Jim Gammie, Drumforber, Laurencekirk.
The senior and overall champion, Allanfauld Honka by Wilodge Tonka from Archie MacGregor, Allanfauld, Kilsyth, had a successful show season, winning at Stirling and third at the Highland, and was sold for 10,500gns to Charles McMillan, Ardbeg, Isle of Islay.
Another to go at this price was the junior and reserve overall champion, Spittalton Hawk by Sympa from Andrew Burnett, Upper Spittalton, Blairdrummond.
He was bought by Jim and James Innes, Dunscroft, Huntly, who also paid 8,200gns for the reserve intermediate champion, Ythanvale Hugo by Goldies Enzyme from David Youngson, Rosemarkie House, Ellon.
Caithness breeders, Gary and Lesley Oag, Brims, Thurso, sold their reserve senior champion for 8,000gns to Fisher and Campbell. Brims Hawk was by the renowned sire, Ronick Hawk.

6,000gns Douglas and Linda Graham, Mains of Burnbank, Blairdrummond, with Burnbank Hawk by Milbrook Dartangan selling to A Kennedy and Son, Seggarsdean, Haddington.
A sale of 10 Limousin females was led by William Lawson, Windsole, Auchterarder selling at 5,500 gns to Charlie Boden’s Sportsmans herd at Stockport.
The two-year-old Windsole Geri is by Glenrock Ventura and out of Windsole Caroline.
Andrew Burnett, Spittalton, Blair Drummond sold Wilodge Vantastic daughter Spittalton Helen for 3,200gns to Mr Morton, Church Farm.
The last through the ring, Newhouse Hemma, from RM Adam and Son, Newhouse of Glamis, Forfar made 3,000gns selling to J and A Crawford, Botherwickfield, Bridge of Weir.
