Revolver and Curry & Coco at Duke’s Corner

The students’ music network Atom Live and French new scene promoter Oui Love have joined forces for a free Anglo-French tour throughout this month, bringing five of France’s most hotly-tipped bands to the UK.

That tour stops off at Duke’s Corner on Tuesday, May 18, with two of the bands, Revolver (not to be confused with the Dundee-based Beatles tribute band) and Curry & Coco appearing.

Classically-trained and yes, named after the Beatles album, Revolver members Ambroise, Christophe and Jeremie create what they call chamber pop a reference to both renaissance compositions and the sound of early Sixties Brit Beat.

Their unique brand of baroque indie-pop caught the attention of EMI bosses, who signed them up in an instant after hearing their Myspace tracks. A critically-acclaimed album Music For A While followed.

Curry & Coco, meanwhile, have been touring Europe non-stop over the last three years, winning over audiences with their utopian mix of suave disco and new-wave movements.

Stopping to catch their breath just long enough to record their debut album We Are Beauty in London with British producer David Kosten (Bat For Lashes and Chew Lips), the duo have now set their sights on conquering the UK.

For both bands it’s their first trip to Dundee and both say they’re really excited and curious about coming to play here.

Entry is free, from 8pm.
