Dundee man hid £28k of cocaine in wall

A Dundee drug dealer hid nearly £28,000 worth of cocaine in a hole in his bedroom wall.

The sheriff court heard Lee Loftus, 23, of Hebrides Drive, also had cash and a mobile phone with drug-related messages on it, which was stashed in his bedroom at his mum’s house.

The court heard Loftus was using his home, in Mill o’ Mains, as a “safe house” for drugs and 554g of cocaine was found — with a value of £27,700.

Fiscal depute Donna Brown told the court that police had received information from a number of sources that Loftus had been involved in supplying drugs.

Police then obtained a warrant to search his home address.

The fiscal said: “Information suggested the accused was providing a safe house for drugs. His home address was searched and a brown package containing a white substance was found within a hole in his bedroom wall.

“It was found to contain 554g of cocaine, with a maximum value of £27,700.

“A green bag was also found containing £80 and an iPhone, with drug-related text messages on it.”

Solicitor John Boyle, defending, told the court Loftus had very limited previous convictions.

Mr Boyle added: “Your lordship will obviously require reports, so I will maintain status until then.”

Loftus admitted that, on October 2 last year, at his home address, he was concerned in the supply of cocaine, a Class A drug.

His sentence was deferred until August 4 for background reports to be completed.
