Couple rumbled in Dundee multi ‘spent £50’ on bag with stolen sex toy and custard creams

A couple caught in possession of a stolen sex toy and packet of custard creams today avoided jail.

Nadine Kelbie and Andrew Mason admitted a charge of reset over an incident in Dundee’s Hilltown Court last November.

They were found asleep in a flat in the block in possession of a bag of goods that had been stolen during a break-in at a flat on the level below earlier that night.

The pair later told cops they had bought the bag for £50 from another man earlier in the evening.

Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court the bag contained a packet of custard creams, a sex toy, a pair of trainers, adult and baby clothes, a bottle of perfume and a clock.

Kelbie, 22, of Constable Road, Sheffield, and Mason, 23, also of Constable Road, Sheffield, pleaded guilty on indictment to a charge of reset committed on November 18 last year.

Mason also pleaded guilty to a charge of failing to appear at a pre trial hearing on August 7 this year.

Defence solicitor Scott Norrie, for Kelbie, said she was pregnant by Mason and expecting twins next year.

He added: “She will complete any community order if it can be made.

David Duncan, defending Mason, said social work background reports on him had not been completed due to him moving to Sheffield earlier this month to be with Kelbie after his release from prison.

He added: “The pull of the relationship, which has persisted through good times and bad, was too much.”

Sheriff Alastair Brown imposed a community payback order on Kelbie with two years supervision and a restricted movement requirement confining her to her home address from 7pm til 7am every day for five months.

He deferred sentence on Mason until next month for social work background reports to be completely and released him on bail meantime.
