A teenager who set himself up as a drug dealer aged just 16 has been locked up for 22 months.
Lewis Raitt, of Brackens Road, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine between January 13 and November 30 last year, as well as etizolam on November 30 last year.
He also pleaded guilty to driving dangerously and without a licence in the car park of a Wickes store in Dundee on June 15 this year.
A sheriff yesterday warned Raitt would “kill someone” if he does not curb his offending.
The court heard how Raitt, now 18, set up shop selling cocaine and etizolam – a form of fake valium – while his school age pals were preparing for their fourth year exams.
Officers searched Raitt’s house after a tip-off and found 10 white tablets, an iPhone box containing £340 in cash and a bag containing 10 bags of white tablets, later confirmed to be etizolam with a maximum street value of £10,315.
Drug-related text messages found on Raitt’s phone showed he was concerned in the supply of cocaine.
Raitt had already been warned he faced detention but while awaiting sentence was found driving dangerously in the Milton of Craigie retail park.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard police on patrol at around 11.10pm noticed a red Ford Fiesta being driven on the pavement with no lights between a parked car and heavy goods vehicle.
Officers signalled for the car to stop but instead Raitt, who was revealed to be the driver, accelerated harshly in attempt to get away.
As he attempted to drive off, Raitt’s car collided with the police vehicle and spun anti-clockwise.
Raitt then left the car and jumped over the police car bonnet but was apprehended by officers.
Raitt’s solicitor David Duncan said: “There’s clearly an immaturity here and a clear lack of understanding of quite how serious his behaviour was.
“This is a reflection of someone who can’t cope with the realities of what he faces.”
Passing sentence, Sheriff Alistair Brown said: “Sooner or later whether it is by drugs or driving, you are going to kill someone if you do not change your behaviour.”
Raitt was sentenced to a total of 22 months detention, disqualified from driving for two years and ordered to sit an extended driving test.
