James Langlands, 65, of Bruce Street, admitted that on March 12, at an address in Albert Street, he was concerned in the supply of cocaine to Nicole Roache.

The court heard the offence involved 15g of the drug.

Roache, who was Langlands’ co-accused, admitted that on the same date and location, she did, without reasonable excuse or lawful authority, have with her two knives. A not guilty plea by Roache, 39, of Craigmount Road, to a second charge of being in possession of cocaine was accepted by the Crown.

Sentence on Roache was deferred until September 27.

Sentencing Langlands to 11 months in jail, Sheriff John Rafferty said: “You have a record which began in 1968 and shows considerable criminality on your part.

“You have significant drug dealing convictions which go as far back as 1976, and you received a custodial sentence of eight years for an analogous matter in 2007, and another custodial sentence of just over five years for a matter in Liverpool five years ago.

“You are well familiar with the drug scene and will know the consequences for being concerned in the supply of drugs.”
