A man has appeared in court on a petition alleging assault and robbery.

William Scott, 33, of Cleghorn Street, is also alleged to have attempted to rob another man while in possession of a blade, and assaulted his ex-partner.

Scott is accused of, between April 5 and 6, at Dudhope Court, assaulting Richard Reid, seizing him and placing him in a headlock, presenting a bladed or sharply pointed article at his neck, demanding he hand over drugs and cash, struggling with him whereby he cut his hand with the bladed article, to his injury, with intent to rob him, while on bail.

He is further alleged to have, at the same time and place, assaulted John Walsh, struck him on his head with a hammer or similar instrument, uttered threats of violence and brandished the hammer, to his injury and robbed him of a wallet and its contents.

The petition further states that on April 6, at Kinghorne Walk, he assaulted Laura Neil, his ex-partner, pushed her on her body causing her to fall on to a chair and robbed her of a set of keys on a keyring; and on another occasion on the same date at the same place, he assaulted Ms Neil, pushed her on the body causing her to fall to the floor to her injury and stole a set of keys on a keyring and a television remote control. Scott made no plea and was remanded in custody.

The case was continued for further examination.
