A Dunfermline restaurant has closed its doors over a dispute with its landlord.

Luigi’s in Carnegie Drive opened for the last time on Sunday. The pizzeria had been a feature of the town centre for the past 26 years.

Business partner Moncef Khadhraoui could not comment on the continuing court battle with the landlord.

However, he said the business was looking for another premises and could be back up and running again in the future.

He thanked customers from Fife and beyond for their support.

“We are looking for another premises and we’ve had a lot of support from customers,” said Mr Khadhraoui.

“Things are at an early stage and we are not sure exactly how things are going to proceed. It looks like we will be somewhere but nothing can be confirmed yet.

“Luigi’s has been part of Dunfermline for a long time. It’s at the heart of the community.

“There are kids who have been to Luigi’s since they were in their prams and are now all grown up. People have had birthday parties and hen parties at the restaurant.

“We would like to thank everyone in the community of Dunfermline, west Fife and beyond for their support.”

A few years ago, the restaurant moved from its previous base at the entrance to the Kingsgate Centre opposite Queen Anne Street.

It is understood the court dispute centres around an extension to the rear of the Carnegie Drive premises.

One loyal customer posted on Facebook: “So sad going for last ever meal last night! Thanks for all the great memories and wish you all the best.”
