Reports of a person in the river Tay at Perth sparked a full emergency turnout. Shortly after 4pm police, ambulance and the Scottish Fire and Rescue swift water rescue team raced to the waterfront. As people stopped on Queen’s Bridge and along Tay Street to watch the operation, it was quickly established that no one was in difficulty. “Information was received that someone had jumped off the bridge,” said a fire and rescue spokesperson. “However it appears it has been youths playing in the water.” The water rescue team were not required to enter the river or launch their boat. Police officers who attended were attempting to speak to the youths who had been in the river.
