Brechin boss Darren Dods was a happy man after his side overcame a long injury list to end a five-game losing streak and climb back up to third spot in League One.
Dods said: “We have had loads of injuries and hoped our luck would change, but instead we lost our keeper Graeme Smith and Darren McCormack to injury in the first half.
“We had 17-year-old Connor McLennan from Aberdeen making his debut, but we showed tremendous team spirit and got the result.
“We are asking the same boys to go again and again. Darren has a pelvic injury and might be long term and Graeme injured a calf muscle.
“It was a big step up from U20 football for Connor on a heavy pitch but he was excellent. In an ideal situation I would have taken him off after 50 minutes, but he had to play the whole game.
“The way our injury situation is I am hoping for a big freeze and a long winter.”
Brechin took the lead on 15 minutes when Ally Love beat Cameron Belford from 22 yards.
Brechin lost McCormack and Smith on 37 minutes, but stretched their lead immediately from the restart. A long free-kick fell for McLennan, who brilliantly turned his marker and ran in to score.
In the second half Belford saved at the feet of Alan Trouten, then a drive from Guiliano Morena forced a diving save from replacement keeper Paddy O’Neil.
On 68 minutes Stranraer captain Steven Bell, booked in the first half for an off-the-ball push on Trouten, picked up a second booking for wrestling Love to the ground as the attacker went past him.
With a man advantage, Brechin held on comfortably. O’Neil was rarely troubled and the home side went close to a third when a close-range effort from Dougie Hill was kept out by the foot of Belford.
