Dundee United completed the signing of Dutch striker Nick van der Velden in time for him to be involved in tonight’s League Cup clash with Cowdenbeath.

The 34-year-old former Willem II attacker was on the bench after signing a one year deal with the Tangerines.
And he’s eager to show Arabs he can get the goals to help them mount a promotion challenge in the Championship this coming season.
“I cannot wait to show my skills to the United fans. The manager convinced me when I spoke to him that this was the right club for me. He believes in me and knows what I can bring to United.
“I have spent thirteen years in Dutch football and believe that now is the right time to try something else. I was sold on Tannadice after speaking to friends back in Holland and also seeing what this place has to offer. I am ready to play as soon as possible.”
