Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon will make use of the loan system as he rebuilds his team.
At Raith Rovers last season Ray had a hit with fans’ favourite Harry Panayiotou, who he signed from eventual English champions Leicester City on a temporary basis.
His impressive performances in the second half of the campaign included the winner in the first leg of Raith’s play-off clash with Hibs.
And Ray feels he can have similar success with loan players at United.
He’s already spoken to at least one club down south about bringing in a player for the whole of next season, though nothing has been finalised as yet.
“Things have to fall in place but there is a good chance I will use the two loans I can.
“If there’s a player who can improve us and he fits in with our budget, then I would take them.”
When it comes to permanent deals the manager is being strongly linked with Ross County midfielder Stewart Murdoch.
He won’t give names of targets, only confirmed signings, but it’s now an open secret talks have been held with the 26-year-old this week.
And discussions are also continuing with an experienced goalkeeper who would compete for the first-team jersey with young German Luis Zwick.
Available striker Henri Anier is attracting interest from abroad, though it’s understood he hasn’t had any firm offers yet.
