Mazda Black Edition comes in any colour unless it’s black

Like the AMG Black Series, Mazda’s Black Edition MX-5 and Mazda2 do not actually come in the colour black.
Nope, they’re inspired by the 275bhp racing version of the MX-5.
Sadly, the road-going MX-5 Black doesn’t come with the power of its racetrack sibling, instead coming with the standard 158bhp 2.0 litre petrol unit found elsewhere in the range.
Fortunately it’s a great engine, which gives the pretty little roadster spirited performance.
Colour-wise, the Black Edition is available in green, red, or pearlescent white.
The folding metal roof at least lives up to the car’s name though it’s black.
Inside there’s black leather upholstery with contrasting sand coloured stitching, piano black steering wheel, special badging and a limited edition plaque.
Only 500 examples are being made, priced at £22,995.
If that’s too much for you, the Mazda2 Black is based on the 1.3 Tamura five-door and costs from £12,815.
It gets black alloy wheels, a black vinyl roof, privacy glass, front fog lights and special rear bumper trim.
