Three-year trial to extend angling season on part of the River Tay
ByNews reporter
Anglers on the Tay will enjoy an extended season this year with the start of a three-year trial.
Instead of closing on October 15 the season will now end on October 31, giving anglers the opportunity to continue fishing when catches are peaking.
Restricted to the main stem of the Tay not the upper Tay or tributaries the trial will be limited to the river from Perth up to Dalguise. The catches will be released back into the river after statistics are recorded for later analysis.
The trial was announced in a statement from the Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board (link).
